Senegal Fin

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:47 am

We finished the Branch Video this afternoon. This is a picture of part of the script writing process. I like to see what we have to work with so we cut out the transcription of the interviews and laid them in columns by topic/theme. It is the longest film we have made to date, running just 16 minutes. That 16 minutes is carved out of 22 hours of great footage and interviews and 11 gigabytes of audio recorded on our external recorder! It was wonderful to work on the video as a team!

These fun kids are part of a literacy class down in the Casamance.

We were in Dakar during the pilgrimage to Touba. Dan and Marietta took advantage of the lack of traffic to take us on a tour of the Corniche. This is a view of the western most tip of Africa.

French to Jola Casa

Filed under: Africa, Video — admin @ 6:56 pm

We recently had the privilege of interviewing Jerome, a Jola Kasa pastor, about the importance of Bible translation. The translation of the New Testament into his language was just recently completed! It is slated to be printed in South Korea and hopefully will be in the hands of the people in November!

Girls took my Bible!

Filed under: Africa, Video — admin @ 8:00 pm

Here is a snippet of a 40 minute interview we had with Pastor Diokel. He is very excited to have the Bible in his mother tongue, Serer-Sine. We have many such interviews about the work! We will upload another next week.

China Lights Nights

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:31 am

A few days before leaving the states we bought a China Light as an alternative lighting source. It is great because it creates a nice soft light and it folds away into a pocket on one of our back packs. Most of the lighting people use is florescent which has a green hue and flickers (looks awful!). We have used our light a few times and are really pleased with how the video has turned out! Here are a few stills that I grabbed from “Actual” video footage. The second picture shows the light hanging in a little .

This picture is an interview of a lady who has been enjoying listening to the story of Joseph in Ndut. All the pictures after this are of a dinner at a Christian family’s house in Dakar. It was really fun!! We got there at 6pm and left at 11pm!!

These last two pictures are of a typical Senegalese “Tea Ceremony.” Our tea was made of basil, black tea and LOTS of sugar. It is said that the first cup is bitter as death. Second cup is smooth as “?” and the last cup is sweet as paradise. It went nice with raw peanuts.
