Confluence

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:03 pm

Our friend Andy just posted our confluence visit to 9N 1E  on the confluence project. That was while we were in Togo. At the end of the summary he says he would go back again, just for fun! I think time has gentled the memory of most profound thirst. It must have been one of the hardest single day adventures I have ever had. I was so dehydrated after it that I threw up all the liquid I had that evening and again the next morning. It took me almost three days to fully recover!

Signs of life

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:40 pm

Yesterday Amanda and I went to the doctor for her first prenatal visit. We had a chance to listen to the baby’s heart beat! The nurse midwife said that Amanda should be eating more red meats, so Amanda’s craving for steak has been validated. The rest of the time was spent answering a host of family history questions.

On other fronts, I went apple picking with my brother Daniel last week and picked two and a half bushels of empires with a few galas thrown in. So far we have made three apple pies, baked apples, apple pancakes, apple cider, apple sauce and caramelized onions and apples with bacon (Little House on the Prairie recipe). We are also eating them fresh. We wrapped about a quarter of them in newspaper and put them in the basement for storage.

Godiva has more than doubled her weight since we got her. She now knows shake, sit, lie down, roll over, stay, come and get it (aka fetch). Next we are going to teach her to find/fetch a diaper! (then we will add wipes, pacifier etc..) Oh, and she is always ready for her next meal… even if it has been five minutes since her last one.

In the News!!

A few weeks ago Amanda and I got in the local news paper. A journalist came across our Footbridge Films website and saw that we were local and shot us an email. Here is the article that was on page three.

News article

There was also a LARGE color photo on the front of the newspaper. We went out to eat for Glenn’s birthday a few days later and a customer at the restaurant said my name, shook my hand and then said, “Nice picture!” At that point I realized that he had read the article.
